Overview
The idea to redesign this website started from my chat with one of my vegan friends who loves sweets and Moon Beam was her favorite bakery. While she loved this bakery, we talked about how the design of their website could be better and more user-friendly.
From our experience with the Moon Beam website, we noted some parts that needed improvements and I offered the owner of this bakery to redesign her website for a better User Experience. She was happy to accept this offer.
The problems we noted are listed as below with their recommended solutions.
The website’s theme was too dark and the colors are not welcoming enough. A vibrant and lighter color palette can help users read the texts better and find their desired information.
Some information keeps repeating itself which is disturbing users and is time-consuming. Key information should be highlighted and put in a position to catch the attention so there will be no need to repeat it.
The menu part is too long and time-consuming to find the desired sweet. Having the menu broken down into parts will be easier for users to choose from.
The menu part lacks a search bar. A search bar is needed at the top of the menu.
The pictures used in this website are mostly low quality. Taking high-resolution pictures gives a pleasant look to the website.
Problems and Proposed Solutions
Information Architecture
For an organized redesign and ensuring that the noted improvements are staying at the top of our work, I created an IA (Information Architecture).
Wireframes
Considering the above IA, I first created the wireframes to see how the basic design for our favorite bakery looks.
This Design system made the process of this redesigning consistent and quick.
